AOTEAROA TANGIHIA TE AO
Aotearoa/New Zealand music reaching out to the world

About Sounds Aotearoa
Sounds Aotearoa is a two-day music event that has three main elements to it - a conference, an expo and artist showcases/performances.

Sounds Aotearoa is designed to: facilitate exposure, networking, capacity building, and business promotion. The two-day event provides an opportunity for musicians, promoters, managers and others to work with industry experts to learn and share with one another. It also enables the public to enjoy some performances by leading musicians.

Showcases/performances
Over two evenings a selection of New Zealand artists will perform as part of the showcase programme. Anyone can buy a ticket to these evening sessions and delegates who are registered for the full two-day event receive free entry. You never know who you might meet at these sessions! The line-up will be posted on this website as soon as it is finalised. Visit again soon!

NZ music industry trade expo
The expo will house exhibition booths of private and public industry professionals including non-government agencies and government departments. This aspect of the event will provide valuable information, resources and contacts in areas like: funding; venues; legal matters; technology; promotions; and more.

Conference
This aspect of the event is the ‘think tank’ for the New Zealand music industry. It will consist of interactive activities such as: panels, forums and workshops. A full timetabled programme will be released in a couple of months. In the meantime please feel to contact us if you have any questions or refer to last year’s programme to get a feel of what you can expect.

Where
TSB Showplace, 92 Devon St, New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. Break out activities will occur within this venue and within very close walking distance within the CBD. Find out more about the Taranaki Region.

International delegates
There are multiple reasons why international buyers should visit New Zealand during March 2011. You can arrive in Auckland and soak up the Pasifika Festival, move on to Sounds Aotearoa in New Plymouth and stay on for WOMAD Aotearoa/New Zealand which starts the day after Sounds finishes. These events provide an efficient and effective way for you to experience a diverse range of New Zealand talent and culture.

The team hosting Sounds Aotearoa places great importance on delivering an inclusive, welcoming event based on the Māori principle of maangakitanga which means kindness and hospitality.
